The Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of Music in Athens
Dear Friends and Surfers, It was with great honour that the Board of Director of the period [1999-2000] decided to project our historical Association to the worldwide network, commonly known as the INTERNET. «Blessed Be the Name of Lord...»! You may already read and hear about the Roman tradition of our city of Constantinopolis by «surfing» at «hights of heaven», as it was expressed by the well renowned poet of Romanity Kostis Palamas. You may take the opportunity to access the church calendar of our site learning about the Ceremony Order, the chanted hymns, musical information as well as receive answers on many subjects relevant to Byzantine Music in our Holy Churches. Finally, one may find interesting our historic sections, gathering information regarding the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinopolis, the Great Chanters of blessed memory and other followers of the "Damascenian and Koukouzelian Art". At this point, we would like to express our deepest and warmest regards towards His All Holiness the Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, humbly requesting his Holy blessings and wishes. Further, we extend our regards towards His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens Christodoulos for his fatherly love and great affection, as well as his undying interest in our historical Association throughout the years if its residence in Greece. It would be an unforgivable mistake to forget to include in our regards the Association of Friends of Music in Constantinople, that two years ago gracefully celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. They have been tireless guardians of our tradition for over half a century and it is an honour for our Association to walk in their footsteps. We forward our brotherly love to the Archontes Protopsaltes Leonidas Asteris and Lambadarios Ioannis Chariatidis of the Great Church of Christ in Constantinople as well as to all other chanters of Constantinople. Finally, let me take the opportunity to commend
on the webmaster of this siteς, a dear friend and latest addition to our
Association, the talanted and hard working Alexandros P. Raktivan!
Looking forward to receiving your
critics and comments, we wish you have a pleasant time 30th
